The Hillside Strangler
Posted on September 18, 2005 | No CommentsI need to make something clear I guess though, since this portion of the site deals exclusively in cheesy horror movies. THE HILLSIDE STRANGLER is not cheesy. It's gritty, disturbing at times, and actually powered by some overlooked performances by Nicholas Turturro, Lin Shaye, and the Outsider, Mr.Pony-Boy "Sideout" Curtis himself: -
Sleepaway Camp
Posted on August 4, 2005 | No CommentsThere's two type of people who will watch this movie: those who saw it back in the day and reminisce about the days of tight jeans and male short-shorts, and the other type who have heard it's good and have never seen it. The writers of this site were the latter. The film does work on a disturbing level and at the same time has enough cheese to put Laughing Cow out of business. You know those movies that put images in your head that you wish were never allowed access. That would be Sleepaway Camp. -
Scarecrow
Posted on July 30, 2005 | No CommentsThis is one of those slasher movies that makes a choice early on to be campy and not be serious. It doesn't really work, but if you have a few college-educated friends, or drunks ones, or both, and you can talk them into watching this movie with you, you might find yourself enjoying its quirks. At times. -
Shredder
Posted on February 21, 2005 | No CommentsWhat could have been a cross between FRIDAY THE 13th and HOT DOG... THE MOVIE comes up a lame slasher that occasionally inspires a laugh or two. "SHREDDER" has accomplished a wonderfully well-constructed smattering of dick-teases that frustrated each one of the Youngmanriders more times than one. In this review, we will explore all the chances SHREDDER never took advantage of and also why GI JOE is so much more fun to read about. -
The Jackhammer Massacre
Posted on February 7, 2005 | No CommentsIt seems as if Joe Castro, perhaps the worst horror director ever, gets a little touchy when folks criticize his films when they haven't made one themselves. If Joe would stop making movies, people would stop tearing them to shreds. -
Ax ‘Em
Posted on July 18, 2004 | 1 CommentWe would rather lodge hamster droppings up our nostrils than ever watch this movie again. This is one of the worst, if not THE very worst horror movies. An Afro-American slasher that looks like it was shot on scotch tape instead of film and has sound so poor, you might as well listen to it behind a waterfall. Let the pain begin. -
The Pool
Posted on July 9, 2004 | 2 CommentsThe Pool is a movie about, you guessed it, a pool. Actually, it's about a bunch of Euros getting killed at a pool. In the process of watching this movie, we decided that we don't like Europeans anymore. -
The Coroner
Posted on June 18, 2004 | No CommentsThe Coroner might have been a pretty cool movie. Of course, it wasn't and Shortstick waited way too long to write this review. Shortstick would like to remind wannabe reviewers (like us) to review movies as soon as possible or you will end up with a review like this! -
Final Stab
Posted on June 4, 2004 | 1 CommentA poo-poo slasher movie with nothing going for it. "Final Stab" doesn't hurt as much as some, but its mediocrity is heaped so thick, watching it is like treasure-diving into a lagoon of lard. -
Frightmare
Posted on May 12, 2004 | No CommentsYou know all those slasher cliches that "Scream" made fun of? Frightmare goes to the cliche well more than once and comes up empty every freakin' time.
